DexForce’s W1 Pro Is Already Boxing Phones at Lens Technology
DexForce used the World Robot Conference to show wheeled humanoids packing mobile phones into boxes. Reuters, via The Indian Express on 20 August, says those machines have been on a Lens Technology line since early this year. Lens makes touchscreens and other parts for Apple and Huawei.
DexForce official Nicole Yang told Reuters the robots hold millimetre-level accuracy and can catch a phone sitting at a wrong angle.
“In theory, human beings are the most dexterous,” Yang said. “But many workers in factories are unwilling to do this kind of boring work.”
That is a deployment claim with a named factory, not a booth-only packing demo.
What the W1 Pro is
DexForce’s English product page calls W1 Pro an “AI-defined” wheeled humanoid. Stated specs:
- 1636 mm tall, 110 kg
- 34 DoF on the differential chassis, 40 DoF if you take the omni option
- Dual 7-DoF arms, 10 kg single-arm payload, arm repeatability ±0.5 mm (without the hand)
- Dexterous hand at 6 active DoF per hand, or a 2-finger gripper
- 1000 Hz whole-body control, ≥300 TOPS on a dual-PC setup
- Battery ≥8 hours, 1.5 m/s max straight-line, rated 1.2 m/s
- 6 cm baseline binocular head, optional wrist RGB-D, two lidars for SLAM
A stationary W1 Core drops the chassis and lists 22 DoF.
The company is a 3D-vision shop that grew into a full robot. The product page’s manufacturing stills are factory floors and conveyors, which matches the Lens story better than a dance clip.
Reuters does not give a unit count at Lens, a cycle time, or an uptime figure. Millimetre-level is Yang’s phrasing; the spec sheet’s arm repeatability is ±0.5 mm without the hand, so treat the packing accuracy as a company claim until Lens publishes its own.
A Human’s Take
A named contract manufacturer boxing phones since early 2026 is the kind of sentence I want more of. I still want the boring numbers: how many robots, how many hours, how often a human still has to straighten the phone. Until then it is a real customer with a thin public scoreboard.
