Diligent Starts Rolling Out Moxi 2.0 to U.S. Hospitals
Diligent Robotics, now a Serve Robotics company, said on August 17 that Moxi 2.0 is leaving the unveil slide and heading into hospitals. The Austin team is taking orders and has already started installs at Endeavor Health Edward Hospital, Providence Saint John’s Health Center, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
The machine is still a wheeled helper with a manipulator and drawers, not a biped. What changed is the compute, sensors, and a new World Model trained on the existing fleet.
What hospitals get in this hardware pass
Diligent’s press release lists the upgrades that matter on a hallway shift:
- 10x onboard compute and 10–15x faster perception, using upgraded NVIDIA A2000 hardware
- Up to 9 hours on a charge, 30% faster charging, and a claimed 18-hour daily operating window
- A new robotic World Model that the company says learns from fleet experience
- More cameras, sensors, storage drawers, and handles redesigned with nurse and pharmacy feedback
- Better recovery when something unexpected happens, so fewer deliveries stall
The company says Moxi 2.0 still runs on existing Wi-Fi and does not need facility rebuilds. Safety and autonomy sit onboard, so the robot can finish a task without Wi-Fi; cellular fallback is listed for dead zones. Cloud training runs on Amazon SageMaker HyperPod. T-Mobile for Business is named as a network partner, including planned private 5G hospital work.
CEO Andrea Thomaz put the first-generation conservatism in plain terms:
“To operate safely in that world, our first-generation platform often had to move conservatively. Moxi 2.0 is built with the compute, sensors and models to reason about that complexity in real time, so Moxi can move with more confidence without compromising safety.”
The fleet this robot inherits
Diligent dates the company to 2017 and says Moxi already works in 25+ U.S. hospitals. CHLA’s Omkar Kulkarni said the hospital’s fleet grew from two robots to three, completed more than 40,000 deliveries, and covered over 16,000 hours of transport work staff did not have to walk.
Serve Robotics, which acquired Diligent in 2026, says it has deployed more than 2,000 sidewalk robots. That is a different product line. The hospital story is still indoor logistics.
Diligent first unveiled Moxi 2.0 on October 28, 2025, as an NVIDIA-powered platform built on years of hospital delivery data. This week is the start of customer rollout, not the first concept photo.
A Human’s Take
A hospital hallway is a better test than a booth demo. Crowded elevators, carts, and people who do not yield are the job. I’m interested in whether the 10–15x perception claim shows up as fewer “excuse me, I’m stuck” moments, not just a louder GPU.
The CHLA numbers are the receipt I care about: tens of thousands of deliveries already on the older stack. If 2.0 keeps that utilization and actually spends less time creeping, this is a useful robot. If it just adds a World Model slide, hospitals will notice.
