Galbot Opens ET1 Pre-Orders on 3 September
Galbot said on 31 August that pre-orders for ET1, its first small bipedal humanoid, open on 3 September. Gasgoo’s 1 September report is the English write-up of that announcement. Specs in that piece: 1,230 mm tall, 30 kg, flexible outer materials, Unitree motors, and Galbot’s AstraBrain-WBC “cerebellum” model trained on 100,000 hours of human motion (mocap plus video retargeting).
No price is in Gasgoo, KrASIA, or Galbot’s WRC materials I fetched. Treat any dollar figure you see on aggregator sheets as unverified.
What ET1 is supposed to do
KrASIA, adapting a 36Kr piece from Wang He’s WRC forum, calls ET1 an agent-based humanoid: AstraBrain-Agent watches the scene, follows spoken instructions, and replans. Users are supposed to teach new motor skills through interaction instead of a fresh mocap shoot. AstraBrain-WBC turns those intentions into whole-body motion and, Galbot says, can generalize to some moves that were not in the training set.
At WRC, Gasgoo says ET1 shared the floor with Xiao Gai, the Spring Festival Gala robot, matching rhythm and trading lines. The same brain commanded a wheeled Galbot G1 in a retail set to fetch drinks from natural-language orders. That is the “one brain, several bodies” line Galbot has been repeating since the tennis teasers.
We already covered ET1’s WRC tennis pitch. This post is the commercial step: a pre-order date on a 1.23-meter, 30-kilogram body. That is a different size class than the 173 cm / 65 kg figures some spec aggregators floated in August, which is why I am sticking to Gasgoo’s numbers.
Wang He’s two tests for an embodied “ChatGPT moment,” from that forum: 70–80% zero-shot success on everyday skills people do not train for, and cheap post-training that ordinary users can run. He also cited 1 million hours of human data and 80,000 hours of real-world robot feedback inside Galbot’s stack. Those are company figures from the forum, not a third-party audit.
A Human’s Take
A pre-order day without a price is a calendar hold, not a product. 1.23 meters and 30 kilograms with Unitree motors is a G1-adjacent kit with Galbot’s brain on top, which is a more honest commercial shape than another 173-centimeter tennis render. I will care on 3 September if a cart goes live with a number, a deposit, and a ship window. Until then, the interesting engineering is still whether AstraBrain-Agent can pick up a dance it was not mocapped for, on a body that is actually for sale.
