Lumos MOS 2 Puts a 50 kg Dual-Arm ‘AI Worker’ on Mitsubishi PLC Lines
Lumos Robotics is selling MOS 2 as a factory worker, not a stage act: a 1,650 mm wheeled dual-arm on an omnidirectional base, 30 kg rated / 50 kg max across both arms, already doing inspection, box pushing, screwdriving, and material handling on Mitsubishi Electric PLC lines.

The machine, not the round
Specs from the MOS 2 page:
- Height 1,650 mm; mass ≤350 kg including battery; base 735 × 700 × 300 mm
- 22 degrees of freedom; max joint torque 380 N·m; seven-DoF arms with a standard flange
- Travel ≤1.5 m/s; lift travel 750 mm; trench ≤35 mm; step ≤25 mm; gradeability ≤5%

Embodied Global puts the footprint at about 0.5 m², small enough for narrow aisles. That matches the “compact” pitch on the product page.
First-generation MOS units, not MOS 2, logged more than 1,000 hours of continuous, failure-free operation at Mitsubishi’s Changshu plant, according to that same report. The new machine is the one Lumos is putting on core PLC lines for six-sided visual inspection plus handling.
“Dancing, running and doing backflips may demonstrate a robot’s physical capabilities, but they do not prove its industrial value,” said Yu Chao, founder and CEO, in the press material Embodied Global quotes. “What industrial customers ultimately care about is task success rate, production cycle time, deployment time and return on investment.”
Mitsubishi Electric opened four scenarios to Lumos in 2025 (inspection, assembly, sorting, handling) and later led A1/A2 rounds. I am not making this a funding story. The useful fact is customer-then-investor on a live PLC line.
A Human’s Take
Wheels, 50 kg, eight-hour packs, and a named automaker line is the adult version of “humanoid in a factory.” I want cycle time and how often a person still has to swap the end effector. Until Lumos publishes those, treat 1,000 hours as a gen-1 endurance claim, not a MOS 2 scorecard.
