UBTECH’s Liuzhou Plant Puts Cruzr to Work Building Walker
Walker S humanoids are hanging in a high-bay rack in Liuzhou while wheeled Cruzr units feed the line. UBTECH held the commissioning ceremony for its Industrial Humanoid Robot Super Smart Factory on 12 September, according to China News Service and IT Home.
The floor is 14,000 m², 13.8 m high. Design takt: one industrial humanoid every 10 minutes. Planned annual capacity: more than 10,000 Walker S and Cruzr units.
Robots on the material loop
China News Service describes the closed loop: Cruzr series machines destack, palletize, load, and haul. Final assembly uses cobots, assistive manipulators, unmanned carts, and 360° rotating fixtures. A digital “brain” schedules inbound and outbound flow.
Humanoids Daily names the wheeled pair as Cruzr Y1 and Cruzr S2, working with Wali forklifts and Chitu haulers under UBTECH’s Yanshee MOM plus Siemens Intelligence Center X. UBTECH and Siemens built a 1:1 Plant Simulation twin before the floor existed, to check tote returns and AGV buffers against that 10-minute beat.
NetEase’s factory recap, drawing on company figures, adds the hardware chores:
- More than 2,000 screws, 50-plus specs, per chassis
- More than four hours of end-of-line tests (static function, motion accuracy, payload endurance, haul aging)
- A 65 m² automated warehouse holding 112 finished humanoids, with claimed storage-density gain above 50%
Founder Zhou Jian, quoted by China News Service, said the plant will keep Walker and Cruzr on real Liuzhou stations so the company can collect industrial scene data. Liuzhou party secretary Zhang Zhuang, speaking at the ceremony, called the jump from first unit to thousand-unit output to a 10,000-unit plan a one-year-plus climb, per Hong Kong Commercial Daily.
Capacity is not the same as a filled order book. Humanoids Daily notes UBTECH’s H1 2026 full-size humanoid revenue jump and a cost target under $20,000 by 2030; those are company aims, not this weekend’s output. IT Home restates Walker S2 at 1.76 m with autonomous battery swap — product context, not a new spec from the ceremony.
A Human’s Take
The picture I care about is Cruzr restocking the line that builds Walker, not the 10,000-unit slide. A 10-minute takt with 2,000 fasteners only matters if the four-hour burn-in stays honest when the rack is full. Liuzhou is a real factory. The next receipt is how many of those hanging Walkers leave on a truck.
