Vbot Puts a 160 cm Home-Scale Humanoid on the WRC Floor
Vita Power, the company behind the consumer quadruped Datou, put a full humanoid on the floor at the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing.
The machine is ATOM. According to 36Kr and a same-day Sina Finance write-up of the launch, it stands 160 cm, with a 180 cm arm span, 95 cm legs, and 31 body degrees of freedom. The body is wrapped in fabric. A screen sits on the face. Ear lights show status. The soles are built to run quiet.
Built for cabinets, not cages
Most of Hall C this week is 1.7–1.8 m metal frames with dexterous hands. ATOM is shorter on purpose. 36Kr reports the height, reach, and waist motion were reverse-engineered from cabinets, desktops, door handles, and the kind of indoor turn radius a person already lives with.
The company opened personal, enterprise, and developer versions for reservation at the show. Sina Finance, citing IPO Early Know, dates the launch to August 19.
The quadruped that paid for the bet
This is not Vbot’s first consumer robot. SAG’s Robotics 360 numbers, quoted by both 36Kr and Sina, put global quadruped shipments at about 26,000 in the first half of 2026. Unitree still leads at about 13,600 units (52%), down from 75% a year earlier. Vbot shipped about 1,600 units, roughly 6%.
Datou’s first sale took 6,540 pre-orders and nearly 100 million yuan. Mass production started in May. 36Kr records 1.26 million large-model interactions, 23,700 km of accompanying mileage, 131,500 hours of companionship, and 86% two-week retention. Four OTAs in three months added 31 functions and changed 66 more.
At the same show Vbot also brought Datou EDU-W, a wheel-foot EDU variant. 36Kr says it hits 2.5 m/s and, under the company’s own test conditions, uses 50% less energy than the standard EDU.
The software pitch is a stack it calls Vbot Embodied Genome: Vbot-OmniDuplex, Vbot-WorldModel, and Vbot-EvoMorph, aimed at duplex interaction, action evaluation, and moving skills across quadruped, wheel-foot, and humanoid bodies.
A Human’s Take
I like that they started from “will this fit under a cabinet” instead of “can it run a 100-meter.” Reservations at a trade show are not a shipping date, and 31 DoF in fabric is still a demo until someone keeps one at home for a month.
The Datou numbers are the interesting part. If even a slice of that consumer loop transfers to a biped, ATOM is a product story. If it doesn’t, it is another 160 cm statue with a face screen.
