Xiaomi’s New CyberOne Spent Four Months in the Car Plant First
Xiaomi took a new-generation CyberOne to the 2026 World Robot Conference on 19 August after four months of work inside its own car plant. Jiemian News and 36Kr both ran the same briefing, with photos credited to Xiaomi.
The machine is about 1.70 m and 66 kg, with 66 degrees of freedom, 33 of them in the two hands. The body is light gray, helmet head, no extra costume. Xiaomi says the size is meant to match a line worker, not a stage mascot.
Florist at the show, nuts at the plant
On the WRC floor the robot played florist: pick a bouquet, drop scented cards, hand it over, shake hands, fist-bump, make a heart. Xiaomi told Jiemian the sequence is not a canned script. An embodied model decides the steps. The company still calls it a prototype and says it will go to Europe after the domestic debut.
The more useful numbers are from the factory. Lei Jun wrote in March that Xiaomi robots had started an internship on the auto line, with a five-year aim of putting large numbers of humanoids to work in Xiaomi plants.
On a die-cast self-tapping nut loading station, Xiaomi said the robot ran 3 hours continuous, 90.2% install success, on a 76-second takt. Lei later said bilateral success on that station rose to 98%. Console side-cover sorting and empty-crate folding both sit at 90%, with the cover job using a two-handed regrasps on a flexible part.
The gap Lei keeps pointing at is takt. Labs can fail 10,000 times for one success. A plant, he said, needs 10,000 successes in a row.
Distance from the 2022 CyberOne
The first CyberOne, shown in 2022, had 21 whole-body degrees of freedom and was a tech demo. This one is still internal: Jiemian notes no standalone robot revenue yet. The stack named in the coverage is Xiaomi-Robotics-0 as the VLA base, plus Mi-Sense depth, with Xiaomi-Robotics-0 described as open-sourced. Lei also claimed Xiaomi-Robotics-1 ranked first on Robocasa365 and RoboDojo; that ranking is his statement, not a third-party audit in these stories.
A Human’s Take
Four months on a nut station with a published takt is a better story than a bouquet. 98% is not 10,000-in-a-row, and Xiaomi says so. I will believe the intern when the same robot is still on that station after a model-year change, not just after WRC.
